Cerritos Hyundai is Thrilled to Receive this Outstanding Review!
I am naturally a somewhat suspicious guy, so it goes without saying that I read everything twice and take anything a car salesman says with a grain of salt.I had been trying to buy a new car for a couple of weeks. You wouldn't think it would be that hard to buy a car except I wanted a good price on it, and I had decided on a model and option package (Hyundai Sonata 2.4L Limited with a Navigation Pkg) that was apparently in short supply.I had gotten a price from an Internet sales guy at a different dealership that was pretty good. Really good actually. Only problem is, after I drive down there, I find out he doesn't have the car he just sold me. No problem though, a few are coming in on Wed of next week. I can't have the color I really want, but other colors are available that I think are OK. All right, I'll wait a few days. Call me when they are in I say. Well, Wed comes around and I call him and ask when I should come to get my car. I don't hear back from him. Next day, I call again. No call back. Friday he calls me. Oh, they came in but someone sold them. No problem though, we can get more but if I want to put a deposit down, they will be sure to hold one of them for me. I tell him I don't need them to hold it, just call me when the truck comes and I'll be there in an hour with my checkbook.I figure I better broaden my search beyond this guy, since he is jerking me around and doesn't seem to know what he is doing and never calls me back when I want an update. So On Wednesday I go to http://Edmunds.com and fill out a request for dealer quotes. About an hour later I get a call from Jacobi Wynne at Cerritos Hyundai with a really good price quote. Almost as good as the other guy who can't get me a car. I tell Jacobi, he doesn't have my favorite color which is a silver blue, but he says they have a silver which I also like on another lot. I tell him that if he gets the car, I'll be down that night to buy it. He tells me he will call me back. About a half hour later he calls me and tells me that he can't get the car that night. My suspicious radar goes off again. He tells me he can probably get it by Friday. I tell him that I don't mind waiting a day or two, but I don't want to get into this thing where we bounce along because he can't find a car for me, and two weeks later we are still two days from the car arriving. He says "I wouldn't do that to you...I just want to be clear and set your expectations. Its coming into a dealership on a truck and hasn't arrived yet. It *might* come in on Thurs, but definitely by Friday. I'll call you on Thursday to give you an update". So I say OK.
Thursday comes, and sure enough, he does call me, and apologizes and says it hasn't come in yet, but they still expect it on Friday. OK I say, give me a call tomorrow.Friday arrives and my suspicious radar is still going full steam, but at 5pm he gives me a call and says he is heading out to get the car but it will be a while before he gets it back to the dealership. Probably between 8:30 and 9. He tells me the dealership closes at 9, but he's arranged for the finance guy to stay late to take care of me. I'm surprised saying "Its going to take you that long to get back?" and he says "yeah". OK, still a little suspicious, I say OK, I'll get down to Cerritos around 8:30 and meet you when you get in.So I start heading down there and am still expecting him to come in with some story about how the car never showed or whatever when I get a call from him. He is in the car and driving it back.Cool! So I get down there, and one of the other salesmen has me start filling out paperwork while I wait. They are all pretty friendly. Not in a fake car salesman way, but like decent guys. Jacobi arrives about 8:45, and to my surprise, he has the Blue Silver car that was my first choice all along, not the Silver one that was my second choice. My even bigger surprise was that I look at the paperwork, and the car came in from a dealership in Palmdale. He drove all the way out to Palmdale to bring back the car color I really liked. That's out in the desert on the other side of the mountains from LA!!! Probably a 1.5 hour drive each way!Jacobi walked me through all the features of the car teaching me all the stuff, even helped me synch my blackberry with the bluetooth. A really nice guy.So in the end, he kept his word, exceeded my expectations, delivered me the car I really wanted, and at the best price I could find in LA.I have never tipped a car salesmen before, but I tipped him after our transaction. I really appreciated his going above and beyond and I was really happy with the transaction. He stayed until after 11pm getting all my stuff done and showing me all the features and never once did I feel rushed. Thanks!
